An Inside Job

Quote: Mahatma Gandhi- “Each one has to find his peace from within. And peace to be real must be unaffected by outside circumstances.”

Quote: Dalai Lama XIV- “We can never obtain peace in the outer world until we make peace with ourselves.”
An Inside job

Are you truly happy in your life? I mean really happy with every aspect of your life? If you can answer yes to both questions, you don’t need to read any further. However, if you answered no, here is some simple advice that may help you on your journey.

For those of you on the search for total bliss, the key is to look inside first. True happiness is an inside job. If you are looking for external objects, people or situations to provide you with happiness, you need to switch your focus to you. When you find happiness with yourself, you can then find happiness outside of you. When you don’t love yourself, it is hard to accept love from others. How can others give you something you can’t or won’t give yourself?

It sounds easy to love yourself, but for many of you, that may very hard to do. You make mistakes, you make poor choices and I am sure you judge yourself way more harshly than you do others. Many of you are your own worst critic. When you are ready to change this thought pattern, true love for yourself will come from finding acceptance for all that you are and all that you can be. When you accept that you are on your journey and you are exactly where you need to be, you may be able to release some of your expectations so you can find your own inner peace.

For each person the journey into loving yourself is going to be different based on your own thoughts and beliefs. For me, finding my connection to God was an integral step for me to find love for myself. If I am created in the image of God and He is perfect then how can I be anything but perfect? Now, this does not mean that I don’t make mistakes and mess up like everyone else; it just means that I accept the “perfectness” of everything that shows up for me. I will attract exactly what I am giving to others and myself so if I want to attract love, then I must give love to myself and everyone around me.

I hope most if not all of your life is full of happiness, but if some areas can use a boost, look inside and see if you have unconditional love for you. As Wayne Dyer says, “change your thoughts, change your life.” So, start on the inside and change your thoughts about you. Work from the inside out.

Questions:
-Do you have unconditional love for YOU?
-What will it take for you to love yourself?
-How can you attract love to yourself if you don’t give yourself love?
-Can you find the perfectness in your life right now?
-Can you accept yourself and your life exactly where you are today?
-How can you do this? What will it take?
-What do you need in your life to find unconditional love for yourself?

Fieldwork:
Spend some time with yourself meditating or in a quiet place and look inside to see what you need to find ultimate happiness. Find a mantra to say to yourself everyday. You can use use this one or create one that works for you.
Mantra: “I give to myself and others what I want in my life. I am love, I am kindness, I am peace, I am happiness and I am acceptance. I love myself for all that I am and all that I am not. I am true perfection and my life is perfect for me.”

Here’s to your inner peace and happiness! Enjoy the journey!
